Monday November 28

 Hello Families,

In our morning word work we reviewed what nouns and verbs are, students have been working through activities identifying nouns and verbs for a few weeks and are getting very proficient at distinguishing them from one another. We are coming to the close of our read aloud The One and Only Ivan and students are creating a visual journal page to demonstrate their understanding. They continue to write and edit their Best Excuse stories.

In health class students identified things that frustrate them and how we can help refocus and calm ourselves down when this happens. Please ask your child what fills and empties their frustration cup. In math we were introduced to what first and second hand data is. Our class will conduct its first survey of the year tomorrow in class. In google classroom students answered questions about Tunisia.

Reminders:

This week looks like it is going to be very cold and we will most likely have indoor recess

If you have not brought your materials for your instruments, bring them tomorrow,

Ms. Molsberry

Tuesday November 1

 Hello Families,

Today our class was testing the hardness of different types of rocks and minerals, we used the Moh's hardness scale to help us complete this task. Students were able to identify the hardness of several rocks and minerals.

We have been having several discussions about kindness and respect in our classroom. A focus has been on caring for our things and others in our classroom. Several things such as classroom pencil sharpener's, rocks from our rock collection and books have been destroyed. Student's are often not intentionally breaking these things but are encouraged to slow down and take their time so that we can enjoy our classroom supplies. It would be appreciated if you could have a further discussions with your child at home about taking care of ourselves, others and our communal supplies. Together we can be kind and take care of our space, I know we can do it!

Thank you for your ongoing support,

Ms. Molsberry
