 Hello!

It was Orange Shirt Day today! We had an assembly where we talked about Residential school survivors. 

In English, we wrote Roscuro's character traits and then we had to draw a picture. 

In math, we learned how to represent numbers using expanded form. 

We also had gym today. We learned and played all sorts of different Indigenous games. 

We also had some time for catch up. 


Today is Ms. D. last blog. It has been a pleasure teaching you and working alongside you. I wish you and your families nothing, but the best! I hope to see you all in the future :)

Hello families and friends! 


In math, we continued to practice our place values with base ten blocks. 

In social studies/Indigenous Focus, we looked at some Indigenous flags and we drew how we lead with our hearts. 

We did some more cursive writing. We practiced the letter "q" 

We had music. In music, we sang a song with different instruments and we played a game. 

We also had a meeting with Mr. Patry and Mr. Magowan. They read us a story about Phyllis and her orange shirt. 


Tomorrow is our Orange Shirt Day assembly! Please wear an orange shirt. If you do not have an orange shirt please wear your favourite shirt.

 Hello families!


We had library today!

We had gym. We practiced our over arm throws and played a game. 

In Indigenous focus, we replicated Norval Morrisseau's art style.

In math, we continued learning about place value. There are the ones, tens, hundreds, and thousands.

In English, we had to write what we liked about Norval Morrisseau's art. 

We had social studies very briefly where we reviewed our continents and played a game.

 Hello everyone!


This morning we had an assembly. Mr. Patry led us through a land acknowledgement to begin our week of Truth and Reconciliation. 

In art, we continued to write our character traits. 

In math, we learned about place value. We know that each digit increases by ten times! 

We had music. We all focused on different instruments from around the world. 

In Indigenous Focus, we learned about an artist called Norval Morrisseau. 

We have library tomorrow! Please remember to bring your library books :) 

We usually have DEAR in the afternoon, but today we had it in the morning!

 Happy Thursday!


In English/Art, we painted our own skies. When they dry we will decorate them with our personality/character traits and display them in our visual journals. 

In math, we practiced our place values with base ten and hundred blocks. 

Fall Equinox is on Saturday. In Indigenous Focus, we talked about the Medicine Wheel and drew in the fall section of our wheels. 

In social studies, we learned about some different countries around the world and the languages that they speak. We also tested our province/territory and continent knowledge. 

In gym, we played a game called Asteroids, where one class lines up and throws dodgeballs at the other class while they run across the gym. 


Tomorrow we do not have school, so I will see you all Monday morning!

 Hello everyone!


Today we had school pictures! :) We all looked very nice!

In music, we learned a new song called Cookies.

We read two stories called "Not a Box" and "Not a Stick". We had to use our creativity and vibrant imaginations to create different ways to use a box and/or a stick. In our visual journals we drew a picture of a box, that was NOT a box. Then, we went outside and had to act out a scene with a stick, that was NOT a stick. 

In math, we did some Estimysteries and we filled in our x2 multiplication chart. 

We also learned a new letter in cursive! The letter g!


Tomorrow and Friday are Parent/Teacher Conferences. Please sign up if you have not already done so.

 Hello Grade 3 families!


In English, we talked about Despereaux's characteristics or character traits. Then we had to draw a picture of Despereaux. 

In gym, we played Jaguar tag and we practiced our bowling. 

In math, we did an assessment for the government. 

In art, we read "All Are Welcome". Then we had to paint ourselves on our big wooden heart. Ms. D. is going to finish it today. 

We also had music today. We played a song from a book and we played a game called Four Corners. 


Tomorrow is library day, please bring your books back :) 

As a reminder: we will have our first fire drill tomorrow morning.

 Hello!


We read the book called "Ish..." by Peter H. Reynolds. We learned that we should always try our best and that we can all draw-ish! We drew Wildflower Pond-ish! Then we had to label and colour our pictures. 

We had gym today. We played Revenge Tag and Skittle Soccer. 

In science, we finished our research. We will present next week :)

 Hello everyone!


Today we continued to practice our cursive writing. We did the letter "d". Some of us even started spelling the word "dad" in cursive. 

We also read a book about connecting with the land. We went on a pond walk. We will go again tomorrow.

We also practiced our multiplication. 

We had music where we played a game. 

Ms. D. continued reading Tale of Despereaux. Today, Despereaux got sent to the dungeon and the thread master tied a thread. 

In English, we made pumpkins out of paper and then went to the "pumpkin patch" and wrote about fall.

 Hello everyone!

Today we started the day with gym. Our focus was teamwork and we played many games as a team. 

Then, we started multiplication in math. We learned that any number multiplied by zero equals zero. 

In music, we played with different instruments. 

In science, we started doing research just like little scientists! We are going to continue tomorrow and hopefully present on Thursday :) 

In social studies, we played a game to help us learn the Canadian territories and provinces. We also looked at the World's continents. There are 7! 

Finally, in English, we traced our feet and told Ms. D. where our feet had been over the summer! 

Tomorrow is library day, please bring your books back!

Even though it was a half day, we did a lot and had lots of fun today!

Today we had social studies. We coloured our flags. Ms. D. is going to put them up later today!

In art, we did some dot art just like Vashti did. 

After we were done, we played some more math games. 

In gym, we played Jaguar Tag.

Good afternoon families! 

We had a school assembly where we sang songs and Mr. Magowan and Mr. Patry read us some books about being kind and making sure everyone feels welcome at our school. 

In gym, we played zombie tag and British bulldog tag. 

In math, we played a game where we had to represent numbers in 3 different ways. 

In English, we read The Dot. Then we had to use our sticky words to retell the story.

We also started learning about the flags of the countries where our friends come from. 

We continued reading our novel The Tale of Despereaux. We cannot wait to find out what happens next!

 Hello!


Today we learned about different countries! Using GoogleEarth we looked up many cool places. Tomorrow we are going to create flags. Don't forget to ask your parents where they come from :) 

We also started doing our cursive writing. 

In our visual journals, we made some promises. For example, I promise to always be kind. 

In music, we learned a song called "I Promise" and we sang our school song as well :) 

In math, we continued with representing numbers! 

We also got new classroom jobs. Woohoo!

We have our back to school assembly tomorrow at 10:15am!

Hello families!

Welcome to Grade 3! I apologize for the blog mix-up. Everything should be running smoothly now :) 

Today we had a busy day! We played Banana Tag in gym. It was fun! In art, we wrote our names in bubble letters and decorated them with things that are important to us. We had library for the first time this year! We also started a little bit of science. We talked about what different scientists do. For example, a meteorologist studies the weather. A psychologist studies human behaviour and a biologist studies the human body. Lastly, in math, we reviewed different ways of representing numbers. For example, we can use a number line, dice, fingers, base ten blocks, and ten frames to represent numbers. 

Tomorrow we have a Back to School Assembly in the gym.
